I popped out to Tallagandra Hill Winery yesterday to check out the new digs. And all I can say is WOW 😲 It’s amazing the difference a few months, a couple of artistically arranged bits and bobs and a bit of elbow grease makes to the place 😉 I jest.
The work Mary and David have put into their little piece of paradise is astounding; the hand crafted art pieces, the barrel chandeliers, the reused, recycled and recrafted timber works all make the newly refurbished “wine shed” a work of art that works in harmony with the Murrumbateman country scene.
They’ve had 3 cabins built for vineyard accommodation, to be opened in a few months, and these have also been incorporated into the old is new theme, with retaining walls built for bbqs and communal sitting areas, using 100 year old weir retaining walls. The stories behind all these pieces will hold you spellbound for hours. I can’t wait to be able to stay out there, with the vines to the left, the winery in front and paddocks full of Australian wildlife to the right. Add a few bottles of The Favourite Son and why leave? To get food, probably. A new menu of cheese and Charcuterie platters will be available at the cellar door from August, if you fancy a nibble with your Tempranillo 🍷
The old winery shed will be the perfect place to get married, hold a conference or just have a huge fancy party, it will be truly fabulous when it’s finished. What a great inclusion to the Canberra wine region 🍷
